New Mexico Common Core Professional Development Program
The New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) is excited to offer professional development to support the implementation of the Common Core State Standards free to districts and schools. In spring 2013, PED partnered with Knowledge Delivery Systems and Solution Tree to offer a blended model of professional development to teachers and administrators. Between February and June 2013, we have trained 2,554 educators! This included 645 educators that took 45-50 hour online courses in ELA, Math, and Teaching Reading to English Learners, 1,460 teachers who completed in-person workshops, 289 participating in webinars, and over 160 engaging in regional mentoring sessions by Common Core experts. Check out the tab Spring 2013 Program Offerings and Stakeholder Feedback to learn more about what was offered last year and hear feedback from educators.
During the 2013–2014 school year, PED is again collaborating with Solution Tree and Knowledge Delivery Systems to offer high quality trainings to New Mexico educators. This year, district and charter schools have selected teams of teachers and administrators leading the Common Core transition locally to participate in the professional development and share the resources back at their school or district. This year’s program offerings include in-person workshops, online courses, webinars, and regional mentoring from Common Core experts. PED is also offering an English Learner Support Program to provide additional courses and in-person coaching in support of English Learners. Download the Program Offerings document to the right to see a calendar of professional development offered through this program and the Program Participants document to see if your district or charter school is participating this year. The tabs to the right give more information about each aspect of the program.
Other free Common Core professional development opportunities are also available through PED this year. Select the Professional Development tab to learn about other opportunities.
